Why a miraculous medal?
The miraculous medal originated from the apparitions Daughter of Charity, St. Catherine Laboure experienced in France in the 19th century. One of the visions was of Mary standing on a globe with rays of light. Around her the words, “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee” appeared. There was also an M with a cross, 12 stars, and both the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the vision.
