Why a tau cross?
Anthony of Egypt renounced his worldly possessions and title to become a hermit in the desert in the 3rd century, giving his whole life to God. He became the father of monasticism and on his cloak, he bore the image of the tau cross, which was carried on by a religious order that held St. Anthony as their patron. The tau cross is sometimes called “Saint Anthony’s Cross”.
