Why a metal forge?

Eligius was a 6th century metalsmith and good friend to the French king. He used his fame and fortune to help the poor, free slaves, build churches, and form monasteries and convents. He eventually became a priest and a bishop, and was a great witness for the faith. He is the patron of metal workers.
