Why a table setting?
Esther, whose given name was Haddassah, was a displaced Jewish woman living in Persia who was chosen to be the bride of King Xerxes after being adopted by her scribe uncle, Mordecai. The king’s right hand man, Haman, vehemently hated the Jews and planned to murder all of them, and although the king knew nothing of his wife’s true heritage, Esther’s uncle begged her to intercede. It could have meant death for her, but she prepared a banquet for both the king and Haman where she revealed her identity and asked her husband to intercede to save herself and her people, whom Haman was persecuting. Haman was hanged almost immediately.
