Why School Books?
De La Salle was a priest in 17th century France, who held a doctorate in theology. He began to establish schools for poor children almost immediately in his priesthood because he felt a call to give up his wealth and status to educate those who couldn’t afford it. He also formed a community called the Brothers of the Christian Schools who created a network of schools throughout Francs, as well as training for teachers, technical schools, and schools for delinquents. He is the patron of educational workers.
