Why a torn cloak?
Martin was a Hungarian soldier in the 4th century. He became a Christian at age 10. When traveling as a soldier, he came upon a beggar without a cape, cut his own cape in half and gave the beggar half of his cape. He eventually became a conscientious objector, a student of Hilary of Poiters, a fighter of heresy, a bishop, and someone who experienced many visions.
