Why a bundle of arrows?
St. Sebastian was martyred during Diocletian’s persecution of Christian’s in the third century. He was originally tied to a pole and shot with many arrows, but this did not kill him. He survived miraculously and was nursed back to health by St. Irene of Rome. Once healed Sebastian confronted Diocletian about his cruel treatment of Christians and was clubbed to death on the spot.
