Why a double quill?

Basil and Gregory became great friends and monastics in the Eastern Church in the 4th century. They worked to defend the Church from the Arian heresy as Bishops and theologians in the East, mostly by their writing. They are two of the three Cappadocian Fathers who helped develop the doctrine of the Trinity. This is the only medal in our collection that celebrates two saints – drawing special attention to not only our friendship with saints but their friendships with each other.
